Everything the AI may cite comes from your library, on the Sources page of each thesis. Each thesis has its own.
Add papers
- Add a PDF — the paper is read in full.
- Import .bib / .ris from Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote or any reference manager.
- Discover searches the literature for your thesis and groups what it finds by theme. Tick the papers you want and add them; nothing enters your library until you do.
- The Papers tab in the editor and the Find papers chat scope have Add to library on each result.
- Paste a reference in the Citations tab.
- If you started from your own paper, its references were added for you.
PDF limits: on the free trial, 10 library PDFs of up to 25 MB and 150 pages each; on a paid plan, 60 PDFs of up to 50 MB and 500 pages.
Claims in your library
On the Discover tab, Map the claims reads your papers and lists what they claim: under-explored, contested or well supported, with the papers for and against, a direction for your thesis and the limits of the evidence. Open as a document puts it in a new chapter you can edit: a table of the claims, then Under-explored, Contested, Well supported, Directions and Limits, every claim cited from its papers. Each section arrives as an AI draft you accept or discard; nothing is part of your thesis until you accept it. Opening it costs nothing; the chapter can be deleted on the Outline screen.
The badges
- Full text — the whole paper was read; the AI can quote any part of it.
- Abstract only — only the abstract could be read.
- Looking it up… — still being matched and fetched.
- Not found — the reference could not be matched. Fix this reference lets you correct it or give its DOI.
- Added automatically — found for you because nothing in your library covered what you were writing (switch this off with Find sources for me in Settings).
- Cited by, Open access and Journal citedness — hover each for what it means. A retracted paper and a preprint are marked as such.
Duplicates
Possible duplicates lists the same work held twice, which would appear twice in your bibliography. Merge keeps one and moves the other’s citations and pins onto it. Nothing is merged unless you press it.
Papers without full text
The Without full text filter lists papers the AI can only quote from the abstract, with the reason. If you have the paper, Add the PDF and it is read in full; the badge changes to Full text when it is done.
Pins and export
In the editor’s Sources tab, pin some papers to make a chapter’s suggestions draw only on them. Export on the Sources page downloads the library as .bib, .ris or .csv.
